Within the framework of the reasearch workshop of the Institute for Social sciences of Politics (ISP), on Monday, March 10th, 2014, Jean-Michel Steg will present his book Le jour le plus meurtrier de l’histoire de France. 22 août 1914, Fayard 2013.
This book analyzes the day of August 22nd, 1914 during which 27000 French were killed during the "attaque à outrance" (attack to excess) period.
The author questions what made possible this slaughter and looks at the issue of the long-term memory of the event during the 20th century.
