Disciplining the archive?

What is the status of the archive? Using the methods and disciplinary approaches found in the humanities and social sciences, the research project entitled “Disciplining the archive?” challenges the archive’s conceptualization and uses. Through work based on distinct archives (either thematic or authors’) and a four-sequence research seminar, the project will identify the archive’s disciplinary problematics from various historical and historiographical contexts. Developed in three perspectives – “Archive and disciplines,” “Research archives and authors’ personal archives,” and “Making the archive public” -- the project will both provide a close analysis of the variety of questions and usages linked to the archive and examine the archive’s inclusion in the present.
