TransImage. On the dynamic of images since the origins.

TransImage. On the dynamic of images since the origins.

Based on an interdisciplinary approach favored by specialists from very diverse geographical and temporal areas, the TransImage project proposes both to reinforce the research and educational activities in the domain of image analysis and to accentuate their visibility in the European university landscape. The project’s methods and issues are deeply anchored in the contemporary world while nourishing thinking about the strategic role of the image in understanding modernity, otherness, and the dynamic interaction of cultures.

Two initial thematic studies are envisioned: imaginary beings, including composites and hybrids, on the one hand, and the representations and uses of space, on the other. These proposed case-studies will implement a transcultural approach and will take into consideration historical and scientific theories while respecting the plurality of approaches.
