Inscribed in the cluster’s research on representations of the past from every historical period, this project seeks to assemble the texts of medieval Arab historians on the Arab conquest of North Africa. The publication of an anthology of translated texts will be accompanied by an historical commentary and explanation of the borrowings and successive re-writings. This work will allow for the study of connections between historical events and their re-appropriations in different periods: colonial, national construction, contemporary aspects of identity discourses (national, Berber, Jewish) in North Africa.
