Bio
Dramaturg and assistant director in theater, Nathalie Cau defended her doctoral thesis in performance studies under the supervision of Jean-Louis Besson in May 2018. This research studies performances in the broad sense (theater but also processions, events, ritual games and sports exhibitions) in jewish DP camps in occupied Germany after the war. She received a mention at the PSL thesis prize in 2019. At the end of this work, Nathalie Cau conducted research on the links between landscape and memory in Germany, the United States and Israel as part of a post-doc in research-creation at EUR ArTeC. This work is included in the work published in October 2020 by Éditions du Détour under the title L'attente, prefaced by Annette Becker. It also includes a short documentary film co-directed with Agathe Nieto and in production for an extended version and also a database of performances given in camps for jewish DPs between 1945 and 1952 in the British and American zones of Germany. In 2020, Nathalie Cau is a post-doctoral fellow at the labex Les Passés dans le Present labex for the transdisciplinary and international project RePiT, which is interested in reenactments and reiterations of representations in the writing of history and the functioning of individual and collective memories. 2010, Nathalie Cau teaches as a contractual lecturer and then as a temporary lecturer in TD and CM with students of UFR PhiLLiA (Nanterre) from the first year of the license to the master.
