Frédérique Duyrat is director of the department of Coins, Medals, and Antiques of the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
From 2001 to 2009, she was assistant professor in Greek history at the University of Orléans (France), and member of the Institut universitaire de France (www.iuf.fr) between 2006 and 2009. From 2010 to 2013, she was curator of Greek coins in the department of Coins, Medals, and Antiques of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, until she was offered the position of director of this department in September 2013. She has been associated researcher to the Institut de recherche sur les archéomatériaux – Centre Ernest-Babelon (CNRS), a physics laboratory specialized in elemental analyses of the metal of coins (2002-2013) and is now associated to the research team Orient et Méditerranée – Mondes sémitiques (University Paris - Sorbonne) and the Ecole doctorale Archéologie of the University . She presented a habilitation à diriger des recherches at the Sorbonne in 2010 to be published by the American Numismatic Society: Wealth and Warfare. The archaeology of Money in Ancient Syria. She is the editor of the collection Trésors monétaires published by the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and is one of the directors of the Revue numismatique and member of the board of the Société française de numismatique. She has written and edited eight books and a number of articles related to numismatics, ancient history or economic history.
